Aug 17 - Zero Day #38

TRIP MILEAGE: 1,790.1
MILES TO GO: 389.0

After a great 3 week west coast road trip, I arrived back in Mass at 5AM this morning and proceeded to catch up on the sleep I didn't get on the plane. In the afternoon I headed to REI, EMS, Hannafords and even Lowes to upgrade some gear and load up on food. I'm reverting to cold weather gear, so my pack is really really heavy. But, while I was away, my smaller hip belt arrived from ULA Equipment, my pack manufacturer. Weight loss required a drop down in size. The new hip belt is much more comfortable and the straps and clips are nice and tight.

Tomorrow morning I load up and jump back on at Kinsman Notch, NH. I owe a special thanks to the Dogfather for putting his own west coast trip on hold to help me with these shuttle rides. He has his first grandson waiting to meet him after all... And he held up doing that to help me with my trips. I'm so appreciative. Thanks dad!

I spent the evening mapping out a rough itinerary for these last 390 miles and it's totally immersing me into a hiking mindset again. I'm so excited! Thanks everyone for following along and I'm looking forward to bringing you good news from the trail. Lastly... Wish Smokestack and Panda luck! Smoke is in the 100 mile wilderness currently and Panda will join him for a Katahdin summit on Sunday. I'm so excited for them... And there's buzz that I might be seeing them on their return trip from their finish. That'll be awesome.
