Jun 8 - Pennsylvania

DAY #84
START LOCATION: Campsite near Pen-Mar Road
FINISH LOCATION: US-30/Fayetteville, PA
TODAY'S MILEAGE: 17.8
TRIP MILEAGE: 1,072.9
MILES TO GO: 1,106.2

Slept awesome last nite. The hammockers were pretty cold though. Smoke
had a near death experience. The tree he hooked up to looked stout
enough, but little did he know this tree forgot to grow roots. At
9:30PM he climbed into his hammock, only to sink to the ground and
hearing the tree follow him. I never heard him yell, so I assumed he
was fine, so kept blogging. I woke up this morning to see his hammock
gone and the tree at a 45 degree angle to the ground. He moved to
trees with roots. He got angry at his uncle Mickey and took it out on
the remaining 45 degrees. Leave No Trace principles went out the
window... Justifiably so.

We moved fast through the Pennsylvania terrain. We took a couple quick
breaks, we outran the hiker we've been trying to avoid and the weather
was awesome. We experienced some Pennsylvania rocks but not too bad.

Smoke and I had planned to meet Panda at PA-30 tomorrow morning, but
they chatted and decided that she'd come down tonight. This way we
could shower, do our laundry, get some food, a good night's sleep and
recharge for our push to Duncannon.

This worked out great. We could get in our 18 miles and handle our
chores during the off hours. It was also great for catching Game 3 of
the NBA finals... Until I watched Game 3 of the NBA finals. Ugh. No
worries though... Panda did our laundry while Smoke and I ate our New
Jersey pizza that Panda surprised us with. She's an absolute sweetheart.

I have a nice hotel room bed tonight. Heaven.
