DAY #10
START LOCATION: Dicks Creek Gap/Hiawassee, GA
FINISH LOCATION: Plumorchard Gap Shelter
TODAY'S MILEAGE: 4.5
TRIP MILEAGE: 72.0
MILES TO GO: 2,107.9

Those of you that saw No Country For Old Men, remember the motel that
he hid the bag up in the ductwork... Yep. That's where I stayed last
night. I will say one thing about Mulls Motel... Best. Water.
Pressure. Ever. I've been at Vegas strip hotels with worse showers.
It was like a hot water fire hose.

Im focusing on my motel stay because today's hiking was so uneventful.
Shuttle guy Ron had me back to the trailhead by 830 and the 11 mile
drive only cost me $8 including tip. I had a moist but not soaking wet
hike up to Plumorchard Gap. I decided that Plumorchard would be my
lunch spot at least. If the thunder storm that was predicted was
underway... I'd stay at Plumorchard for the duration. Well, I pulled
into the Plum lounge at 10:45 and as soon as I opened my food bag, I
heard the first thunderhead. I almost regretted not pushing up to
Muskrat Creek until more thunder and lightning at 2:30. So, I decided
to patch a little tear in my food bag and figure out my new itinerary.
Big push tomorrow and the next day and I'll be back on track. Weather
is looking up after today. One last thing... Georgia, you have a
beautiful underrated section of the AT. Everyone I've met here has
been fantastic and the support from locals and trail friends has been
more than hospitable. I will have nothing but great memories of this
state when I cross into North Carolina tomorrow morning.
