DAY #7
START LOCATION: Blue Mountain Shelter
FINISH LOCATION: Tray Mountain Shelter
TODAY'S MILEAGE: 7.8
TRIP MILEAGE: 56.5
MILES TO GO: 2,122.6
Lost Phinneas...aka Mikey No Pants and Doc Bob today. They decided to
make 14 miles to minimize the rain exposure up to Hiawassee. But
Swiftie, Research and I didn't want to do that to our bodies. Today
was very challenging... 2,000 ft of descent and 2,500 ft of ascent
over about 8 miles. Terrain was rough too.. More ice, more mud.
Weather started out nice, but it went cold quickly in the last two
miles. Definitely the front moving in that we've been expecting.
Probably see our first rain overnight. I've been lucky in that regard
so far.
Crammed in the Tray Mtn shelter right now. Lots of late comers trying
to beat the rain into H-town. Hopefully I won't kick anyone during my
"wee-pee".
